Our "Restaurant" Area

The regular old kitchen area was becoming a little boring in our preschool class, so we decided to kick it up a notch and turn it into a restaurant.  First, we made a list of all the things we would need.  Then we set about collecting, making, and borrowing items to make our restaurant.
Here are some of the things we collected:
Where we check out customers.
A Parent of a preschooler donated material, and another parent sewed 8 waitress aprons for us. We made menues and order books.
The children made chef hats and wore a full apron to be the cook or chef.
We know we need to be clean to be healthy!!

A restaurant (Subway) donated kid meal bags, so we placed them in our restaurant.

The whole area

The children pulled up chairs and started ordering food like they were in a small cafe! Not something we came up with as a class at all, completely child led.

It is always handy to know an expert in the area you are learning about! Mrs. L taught us about manners, healthy food choices, and other "restaurant tips."
What have you added to your centers to change it up a bit?
